"I like what Paul Newman once said -- that anybody who was successful and didn't use the word "lucky" in describing their success was a liar. It was an accident of fate that I had the good fortune to be born in the United States of America, white, male, and healthy, and to loving and supportive parents. I have an obligation to help those less fortunate, and I cannot imagine a more deserving population than the community of hard-working and law-abiding immigrant and refugee youth served by Arcadia."

Jenny Stith got involved with Arcadia when her Ignite Louisville class chose the center as the focus of their group project in 2006.
She recalls, “Before Ignite, I had never heard of Arcadia, but from the first moment I was there, I was truly blown away. The staff are absolutely phenomenal - extremely enthusiastic, compassionate, and creative. The residents who utilize the center are equally amazing people. They have experiences and backgrounds that are so interesting and inspiring to me. I’ve come to realize just how much we can all learn from one another and how very interconnected our lives really are. The friendships I’ve made through my involvement with Arcadia are ones I will cherish for a lifetime."
Jenny works for the Children’s Hospital Foundation and has interests in travel, reading, and the outdoors. |
