Volunteering Opportunities
Arcadia Community Center could not do the wonderful work it does without the continued support of volunteers from the Louisville community. We especially need one-on-one homework tutors for our afterschool program. Many volunteers pick a day or two a week and come consistently for a few hours on those days every week. Volunteers do not have to stay for the entire program on any given day--if you can only stay for an hour each time, that's okay!
Click here to download our volunteer packet! (You''ll need WinRAR to open it.)
If you are a first-time volunteer, we ask that you fill out a volunteer profile form so that we can have your contact information on file. You can fill out the form on your first visit, or download it here and bring it with you.
Also remember to check out our internships if you're looking to be even more involved in Arcadia!
If you would like more information and/or would like to set up a time to come visit Arcadia Community Center, just call us at (502) 375 1819 or email us at arcadia@insightbb.com.
- Summer Programming: It all starts June 15th! Programming is for all school-age kiddos. Click here for more info-- and give us a call if you're interested in volunteering!
- Teen Afterschool: We'll resume after-school in the fall! The teen program runs Monday through Thursday from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Homework time officially starts at 4:30, but many students like to get an early start. The teen facilities include a computer lab with internet access and Microsoft Office.
- Elementary Afterschool: We'll resume after-school in the fall! The elementary program runs Monday through Thursday from 5:30pm to 7:15pm. Tuesday is Girls' Rewards Night and Thursday is Boys' Rewards night, in which the students who have maintained enough behavior points get to participate in a special activity as a reward for their good behavior. These last until about 8:30, and volunteers are welcome to participate as well!
- Other opportunities: There are plenty of other opportunities to help out around Arcadia! If you're looking to do a service project, an internship, gardening, community clean-up, or any other volunteer activitiy, give us a call! We also need someone with computer and networking expertise to help us optimize our office network.
- NEW Teens4Teens Arcadia Ambassador Program: Looking to take your service to the children and teens of Arcadia even further? Join in our "for teens by teens" pilot program! We are looking to develop an inter-school network of university and high school students dedicated to raising refugee awareness, coordinating special events, collaborating with teens at Arcadia to design and implement fundraisers, and anything else participants can think of. While the Community Center staff will be advising and assisting students in this project, it is ultimately to be an entirely student-led initiative. This is an incredible opportunity for young adults to not only do a great service to their peers at Arcadia, but to develop invaluable leadership and coordination skills as well. If you are interested, please call us!
